The Z-List

If you have a blog, you have probably heard about the Z-List. This was started by Mack Collier from The Viral Garden. The guy behind Dosh Dosh has a post about it, which is where I read about it for the first time. There is a lot of hype about this, and a search on Google will give you all the info you need. The basic idea is to copy/paste the Z-List, add your own favorite blogs, post it, and wish for an increase in backlinks.

How to participate in the Z-List, step-by-step: (I allowed myself to copy this part from Dosh Dosh)

1. Create a new post on your blog.
2. Copy and Paste the entire list of blog links below
3. Add any blogs that you want to include near the top of the list.
4. Include the blog where you first got the list from, on the list in your post.
5. Do not include your own blog links on the list in your post.
6. Make sure that all links point to each blog’s homepage.
7. Publish the Post.

Thanks for spreading the Z List, Jakob. There are some things I want to point out.

If you took the list from Dosh Dosh, the URL for Dosh Dosh should appear above ‘Connected Internet’ =)

Secondly, your additions are mostly A-list bloggers who don’t need the extra exposure. If you read Collier’s original post, the Z List is for blogs who are underexposed and deserved to be read .. I hardly think people like Problogger, John Chow or Steve Pavlina need something like the Z List .. :)

oh now I see where I entered the Z-list!

    Thanks for that Jakob :)

    Maki,
First of all, thank you for your feedback. I have added a link to Dosh Dosh. I see your point about the mentioned blogs. However, I am not sure I should remove them. Obviously it is not too late. Then again, these blogs are definitely my favorites. Let me know what you think.

    Daniel,
No problem. Although your blog is fairly popular, I believe it still deserve a spot on the list :)

    Hi Jakob..

Thanks for making the change. I think it might be better to link to blogs who are relatively newer and do not enjoy much link popularity. Some of your additions are already hugely popular so I think putting them on the list is just a little redundant.

On another note, I’m pretty much sure that most of them won’t write anything about the Z List or spread it. Perhaps there are some other smaller blogs you read, that you think should be on the list?

Then again, that’s just my humble opinion and I think you should have the final say on this. :)

Whoa, did someone say under publicized blog that people who know about enjoy and think others would enjoy as well?

Thanks for the inclusion Jakob. And Maki, don’t be so sure about none of the blogs listed spreading the word about the Z List…

I just posted this. It sounds like a great idea to get a little publicity.
