The End of Kontera

After a small conversation with Qelqoth from The Cult of Qelqoth, I have decided to stop using in-text ads from Kontera. There are two reasons behind this. The main factor is the earnings I got from it. I must admit, I have not been using it for a long time, but when compared to AdSense, it is, I my opinion just not worth it. This is obviously due to a low number of visitors, which I why I still keep my account at Kontera open, just incase I one day might reach a broader audience. In the time I have been using it I have got a total of 3 clicks, which has resulted in something less than a dollar.
The second reason is that the ads are messing up the impression of this blog. Mixing normal links with kontera´s underlined links, can easily give the visitor a confusing experience. I remember this from the first time I saw these kinds of ads. With AdSense, there is no question of this being an ad, but kontera´s in-text ads can easily be mistaken for a normal link. Furthermore, it takes a bit of time to load the pop-up window and they can actually be rather annoying when focusing on reading a text. As mentioned above, I might try it again one day, when I have more loyal visitors, but until then, there will be no more in-text ads on this blog. To have people who get a good impression of this blog is worth much more than a few cents.
