How often do you visit a homepage or blog, which does not run some kind of contextual text advertisements? They are everywhere and usually in the form of Google AdSense. However, there are lots of other options out there. Here is my take on an alternative to AdSense.
Thanks to John Chow, I have started using Kontera ContentLinks on my blog. These ads are CPC based, just like AdSense. However the look is entirely different. Kontera ContentLinks are these double underlined links, as you can see below. Not long ago, Google changed their policy around AdSense, so there is no problems involved in using ContentLinks and AdSense at the same page.

Since I only have been using ContentLinks, for a short period, it is too early for me to say much about it. I can imagine this will work a lot better than AdSense, since the ads are shown in the text which is read by the visitor, compared to any of Google’s classic ads. Furthermore, the use and modification of ContentLinks is very easy. The account overview is simple and straightforward. I will give it a try, and let you know how I am doing. To be continued.
