Back to No-Follow

Follow

Some time ago I changed the comments on my blog from No-Follow to Do-Follow. Actually it had the effect I wanted. I got more comments, more back links and more traffic. However, there was a lot of useless and stupid comments, plus a tremendous amount of affiliate links. I find it really annoying when someone is sharing some interesting points in a comment, and then in the link at the top of the comment, it says “Car-insurance.com”. Another factor is that my motivation for answering these comments is dropping. I think it is because I know that people only comment to get the link, and don’t really have an interest in the post. They only ask question to be polite, hoping this will result in an acceptance of their comment, so they will get their link. This is most likely the reason why I never get any negative criticism. So if anyone is wondering why I have not been answering any comments lately, this is why. Because of this, I have decided to remove the Do-Follow link from comments. Furthermore, comments with obvious affiliate links will not be accepted. Now you know. Post comments because you want to. This is not a link building place anymore. Do-Follow is hereby removed from this blog.

    Hey Jakob, its me again

I got your email… and was checking out your blog again and I know what you mean by this post… I mean, if you google do-follow blogs or whatever, you find lots of people with blogs and they have like… 100 or 200 comments per post (depending on how well known that blog is), and of course, some of them are meaningful and interesting but yes, I totally agree with you. It’s kind of annoying to see comments posted by “car insurance”, “sony” or “bose sound systems”… I mean, sure, I have a blog but I don’t comment on do-follow blogs just for the link. That’s just stupid. (by the way I found your blog in the first place through a friend of mine… its nice =))

Keep up the good work with the reconstruction/blogging!

why should one take the time to comment without reciprocity? everyone wants to make money, but doesn’t want the other guy to make money.
